Franksbridge Community Primary School Grants
The Welsh Government require all schools to publish statements about their use of the Pupil Deprivation Grant, Accelerated Learning Grant and Regional Consortia Schools Improvement Grant
The Pupil Deprivation Grant (PDG) 2021-22 is allocated to schools with pupils who come from low – income families and are currently known to be eligible for free school meals (e-FSM) and pupils who have been looked after continuously for more than six months (LAC). The purpose of this grant is to break the link between disadvantage and educational attainment.
Schools are expected to make the best use of this funding to implement sustainable strategies that will quickly bring about changes for learners eligible for free school meals or who are LAC.
At Franksbridge School we have a comprehensive plan, agreed and monitored by Powys Local Authority and ERW, to promote progress and remove barriers to learning for students eligible for this funding.
This year Franksbridge School has received £3450 in PDG funding. We have allocated the funding to:
- provide intervention and support programmes that are proven to have the greatest impact and to be sustainable – e.g. Nessy, Precision teaching and ‘Inference for Intervention’
- implement and use data tracking systems to identify learners’ needs, target interventions and monitor impact
- subsidising school swimming lessons and trips
Data analysis evidence shows that children eligible to receive eFSM make better than expected progress at Franksbridge School.
Accelerated Learning Grant
This Welsh Government grant is intended to support the leaning of children whose progress or wellbeing may been affected by school closure due to COVID 19. £4195 was allocated to Franksbridge School. Alongside money from our school budget, we have used this grant to employ an additional member of staff for this academic year. Our pupil: staff ratio is low so all pupils benefit from quality time and support from members of our teaching and learning team. Additional support is provided for individuals where additional needs are identified.
Regional Consortia Schools Improvement Grant 2020-21
The Welsh Government have awarded all schools in Wales with extra financial support to enable all teaching and learning staff to prepare for the new curriculum for Wales. Schools are required to publish their plans.
We have been granted £3890 for this academic year. The grant will be used to provide staff training in line with our School Development Plan and the National Mission for Education.
